Cameron Villas is located in Palm Beach County, Florida, an area that is one of the largest recovery regions in the country. This sober living residence for men in early sobriety actually consists of two complexes located about 15 minutes from one another—one in Palm Springs, the other in Lake Worth. With a foundation in the 12 steps, Cameron Villas’ management and staff are also all in recovery.
Accommodations and Amenities
Both Cameron Villas facilities are painted a bright, Florida hue on the outside and are located in residential neighborhoods. Each location offers 15 double-occupancy rooms with single beds and a shared private bathroom for each room. There is a fully-stocked kitchen where residents can prepare their own meals (there are also on-site snack vending machines), a free washer/dryer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. Toiletries and cleaning products are supplied for residents.
The Palm Springs house boasts a swimming pool to which all residents have access. Other amenities at both facilities include gym equipment, a computer room and X-Box gaming room, a basketball court and barbecue grill. There is also a complimentary membership to a local fitness center.
Residents attend all groups, recovery-oriented events, volunteer service opportunities and beach outings, as well as many other events, as a community. Transportation is provided to 12-step meetings, recreational events and grocery stores.
Rules and Regulations
Cameron Villas doesn’t enforce a mandatory length of time for residence, but in order to live there each man is required to attend daily 12-step meetings and have a sponsor. Additionally, he must be fully employed or attending school.
Drug testing is scheduled frequently and randomly—three to four times a week—as is Breathalyzer testing. A system of accountability and responsibility is a mandatory part of the living experience. Curfew is 11 pm weekdays and 1 am on weekends. Two or more managers are on-site 24/7.
Cameron Villas works with the South Florida Recovery Center in nearby Green Acres to provide Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) options for its clients.
There is also an in-house physician at both the Palm Beach and Lake Worth locations.
Cameron Villas’ belief in the power of the 12 steps drives its sober living environments. All staff members are dedicated to the 12-step way of life and have also experienced sober living. Most clients choose to stay at Cameron Villas for at least one year, suggesting that they enjoy the structure, which aims to help them maintain a sober lifestyle.
