The Basics

Calvary Healing Center has provided residential treatment in Phoenix, Arizona for over 50 years. Two decades ago, it began offering an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) on its main campus in Phoenix and subsequently opened a satellite clinic in Sun City. Calvary’s residential program includes a faith-based track, and both its residential and outpatient programs have dedicated tracks for young adults ages 18 to 25. Calvary is a proponent of the 12 steps and each program has a strong family component, as well.

Treatment and Staff

After an assessment, clients receive a treatment plan that includes group therapy three times a week. Clients on the young adult track have group therapy four times a week. At the Phoenix campus, groups are available weekday evenings or mornings. A weekend schedule is also available, with groups that meet Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday mornings. In Sun City, groups meet Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

The IOP has 24 sessions, and most clients complete their treatment plan within two months. Individual therapy can be scheduled as-needed. Therapy uses CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the 12-step framework to help clients develop resilience, relationship skills and self-confidence. Clients in need of therapy to process trauma may also receive EMDR treatment.

Calvary requires clients to attend daily 12-step meetings for the entirety of their treatment plan. Meetings are hosted on-site on the main campus, and clients are encouraged to locate additional meetings in their own community, commit to a home group and find a sponsor.

Groups are led by addiction counselors and Master’s-level therapists such as LISACs, LPCs, and LMHCs. Calvary’s psychiatrist consults with clients in need of dual diagnosis support.

Extras

After the IOP, clients can attend a weekly aftercare group. Calvary has an extensive family program and encourages all loved ones to participate in treatment. It hosts a weekly support group for client families and weekly Saturday workshops that explore four modules of supporting a loved one in recovery.

In Summary

Calvary Healing Center has been providing faith-friendly substance abuse treatment for over half a century. Its IOP has a dedicated track for young adults and multiple meetings times to accommodate any schedule. With its robust family program and daily 12-step meeting requirement, clients are sure to leave treatment with an improved and expanded support system.
