California New Life Recovery Homes and Detox Review
Located in Northridge, California just northeast of Los Angeles, California New Life Detox and Recovery Homes is a broad organization with a wide range of treatment services for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. In addition to its more flexible outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), the organization’s main offerings are its detox and residential treatment services.
Accommodations and Food
California New Life Recovery Homes and Detox has six beds available for clients in both shared and private rooms. Residents all get spacious, modern bedrooms equipped with plush queen-sized beds, dressers, bedside lamps and closet space. In addition to the bedrooms, each home also features shared common areas with comfortable chairs and couches, cable TV, an on-site gym, rooms for therapy and yoga, an on-site kitchen and a spacious backyard with walking paths and a volleyball court. Throughout their stay, all clients are served three healthy and delicious home-cooked meals on-site.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, all participants go through a comprehensive intake and assessment process complete with psychological and medical evaluations. Those in need of detox can do so on-site with nurses’ supervision before continuing onto treatment. While the detox period may only last a week or so, the facility also offers 30-day residential programs, which can be extended to 90-day programs with the addition of outpatient aftercare.
Once stabilized, all residents attend full days of group and individual therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT. Group sessions cover a variety of topics including stress management, trigger identification, relapse prevention, life skills and parenting skills. Dual diagnosis support is available along with medication management services. While 12-step participation is not always required, it may be encouraged whenever applicable.
The staff at California New Life Detox and Recovery Homes consists of RNs, psychologists, LMFTs, CADCs, case managers, life coaches and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
While much of the curriculum relies on psychotherapy, a wide range of holistic services are also used including acupressure, acupuncture, massage, art therapy, hypnotherapy, equine therapy, yoga classes and Tai Chi.
As mentioned, those seeking more flexible care can also attend outpatient and IOP programs as necessary. Other featured services include marriage and family counseling, fitness classes, meditation, nutritional counseling, sound therapy, spiritual counseling and ROPES Courses. Those who finish a program can also be placed in nearby sober livings or work with staff to develop step-down aftercare plans.
In Summary
Overall, California New Life Detox and Recovery Homes provides a wide range of services to clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders in many different intensities. Treatment plans are individualized and include evidence-based care, holistic modalities and dual diagnosis support. While the cost of treatment may vary by insurance, California New Life Detox and Recovery Homes remains a strong resource worth considering for those in the area.
