California Diversion Programs Review
In an office building deep in LA’s San Fernando Valley, California Diversion Programs offers court-mandated outpatient services for those who have been arrested for a DUI or convicted of illegal drug possession. Clients must arrange for their probation officer to contact the facility in order to determine the length of treatment needed. Rehabilitation is achieved through group therapy, covering topics such as the 12 steps and relapse prevention.
Treatment and Staff
This facility offers first-time offender DUI courses, a drug and alcohol outpatient program and a family group. All groups are between 10 to 15 people at a time, using education and therapy. An initial deposit of $42 is required to begin treatment. Detox services are not available.
There are four DUI programs offered—running 12 hours, three months, six months or nine months. The classes educate clients about the dangers of drugs and alcohol and focus on how to prevent arrests from happening in the future.
The drug and alcohol outpatient program includes two-and-a-half hour group therapy sessions that meet once a week. During this time, topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, employment and anger management are discussed in detail. The program length can vary from 10 weeks to 12 months, depending on the individual. Group sessions cost $30 each.
The staff includes CADCs and a MFT.
Extras
A family program is available once a week for the family members of clients. The group size tends to be around five to 10 people and is run by an MFT. Each family group costs $30.
In Summary
For those who need to attend treatment because of a recent arrest for a DUI or drug possession, this facility offers very affordable group therapy and courses. They work directly with the probation officer to decide the length of treatment. These programs only meet once a week, but they encourage clients to supplement with 12 step attendance and offer a solid introduction to sobriety.
