Calhoun-Cleburne Mental Health Center Review
Calhoun-Cleburne Mental Health Center is an outpatient treatment facility located in Anniston, Alabama specializing in the treatment of mental and substance abuse disorders for people of all ages. Since it opened in 1967, it has has become a premiere location for addressing mental health and substance abuse issues at a sliding scale cost.
Treatment and Staff
The CCHC substance abuse program begins with an intake screening to determine whether the program is the right fit. The intake process determines the level of care needed—either traditional outpatient or the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)—based on past history of use. Clients who are in need of inpatient treatment are referred to an outside facility. Those who qualify for residential treatment but cannot attend for either financial reasons or a delay in admission are enrolled in the Substance Abuse Day Treatment program that meets Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Once admitted, clients receive an individualized treatment plan that is a mixture of individual therapy, group counseling, family therapy and the 12-steps. Groups are held Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Working as a team, clients and their assigned therapists develop a schedule of group, 12-step and individual therapy sessions they are required to attend each week. Dual-diagnosis support is available for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
CCHC has 203 full- and part-time staff members ranging from psychiatrists, psychologists, CSWs, registered nurses and a pharmacist. The staff-to-client ratio is always in flux, but averages one-to-five. Case management services are also available.
Extras
CCHC has an extensive aftercare program. Once a client has finished the outpatient program, he or she may be transferred to an individual therapist who works with underlying issues using CBT. This allows clients the opportunity to explore why they turned to substance abuse in the first place and aids in relapse prevention.
Additionally, CCHC provides an educational program for first-time DUI offenders and a 24-hour program for individuals with multiple offenses and their families.
