Calda Clinic Review

Located on the Gold Coast of Lake Zurich in Switzerland, the Calda Clinic is a private, luxury treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients struggling with depression, trauma and substance use disorders. With world-class hotel service, Calda provides a one-to-one staff-to-client ratio and a highly discreet residential experience that caters to executive clientele. The facility utilizes the “CALDA Concept” an integrated medical treatment approach that uses conventional, orthomolecular and alternative medicines in the service of psychiatry. Calda believes that medication is an ineffective method for a successful recovery. To this end, the facility works without medications as much as possible.

Accommodations and Food

The facility is a 10 minute car ride from downtown Zurich, well known for its opera and the Bahnhofstrasse shopping area. Also, the facility is a relatively short distance away from famous landmarks like the Lake Genfersee region and the highest train station in Jungraujoch. Residents can either stay in the luxurious Calda residences on the Gold Coast or in a nearby world-class hotel.

The residences are equipped with beautiful contemporary furnishings, ornate sculpture and artwork on every wall, relaxing common areas with fireplaces, therapy rooms, beautiful marble bathrooms complete with jacuzzis, a massage room and a panoramic view of the surrounding lake and mountains. In addition, clients enjoy flat screen TVs, a large master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, terraces and an outdoor patio with a pond.

Residents have access to the personal service team that includes an interpreter, butler and chauffeur. The onsite chef prepares delicious French cuisine and can accommodate any and all dietary restrictions and preferences.

Treatment and Staff

The core of the CALDA concept is the diagnostic systems and the interpretations of those results that inform treatment strategies using integrative medicine. During intake, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment that includes personal and social histories, dependencies and a history of family health. In addition, clinicians do an orthomolecular evaluation that includes food intolerances, a stress profile, hair analytics as well as nutrigenetic and chemical testing. There is also an internal check-up with an ECG abdomen sonography. In cases of substance use, clients enter immediately into the detox process to remove unwanted toxins from the body. Based on the assessment and testing results, the Calda team develops the most effective personalized holistic treatment strategy to meet the specific needs of the individual.

While treatment length varies depending on the specific needs of the client, Calda recommends a minimum of four weeks. The residents are assigned and accompanied by a personal coach and point of contact. The coach lives with the client and coordinates the daily therapy plan. Clients are kept busy, engaging in treatment between six and eight hours a day, seven days a week.

Treatment plans integrate a range of therapeutic methods including holistic methods like acupuncture, voice and movement therapy, alpha-stimulation, art therapy, yoga and meditation as well as evidence-based psychotherapy like CBT and EMDR to treat past trauma as a causal component of current conditions. In addition, clients participate in experiential methods like equine-assisted therapy along with orthomolecular medicine aspects like amino acids, vitamins and personal lifestyle and nutrition coaching. The facility also offers a spiritual dynamic, with individuals given the option to work with a 12-step recovery coach.

The Calda Clinic is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychotherapists and specialists in orthomolecular medicine, alternative and complementary medicine as well as from preventive medicine. The facility works without the use of psychotropic medication whenever possible. The team speaks German, English, French and Russian.

Extras

All Calda clients are self-pay, so they are outside any insurance scheme and the basis of the absolution privacy of the facility.

In Summary
