BangkokThe Basics

The Cabin Bangkok is a premier outpatient substance abuse treatment facility located in the capital city of Thailand. The Cabin Addiction Services Group began with one Southeast Asian inpatient facility in Chiang Mai in 2010. Since then, The Cabin group has expanded to create a network of treatment and counseling centers that spans across China, The Netherlands, Thailand and Australia. Understanding that work, life and family obligations must be met as an adult, The Cabin’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) maintains each client’s privacy while accommodating busy schedules and offers evening hours for treatment.

Treatment and Staff

All potential clients undergo an initial assessment to ensure outpatient treatment at The Cabin is the right option for them. The Cabin treats individuals suffering from mental illness, mood disorders and both substance abuse and process addictions (gambling, sex, internet). Each client receives an individualized treatment plan for recovery. Upon admission, a staff psychologist reviews each client’s history and medications prior to treatment, then they are assigned to one of the two main outpatient treatment track options. Using their patented “Recovery Zones Foundations” and the “Recovery Zones Advanced” treatment models, The Cabin aims to give clients the recovery tools and life skills to maintain their wellness beyond treatment.

Certain groups are divided by gender to maintain privacy and comfort. Both Recovery Zone tracks combine 12-step, CBT and mindfulness meditation to teach clients how to work through difficult mental states. Individuals are also taught relaxation techniques and mental awareness exercises.

During the “Recovery Zones Foundations” period, clients are engaged in addressing primary substance abuse issues and introduced to the three recovery zones (Active Zone, the Danger Zone and the Recovery Zone). During the course of treatment, individuals receive group therapy three times a week. Clients also meet one-on-one with a CADC once a week for individual therapy. Both group and individual sessions work on building a foundation of addiction education, recognizing personal triggers and how to develop skills for relapse prevention. After a client has completed this primary track of treatment they have to option to move on to the advanced treatment track.

Clients enrolled in the “Recovery Zones Advanced” program participate in two group therapy sessions per week plus two family therapy sessions distributed during the six week course. The client still participates in one individual therapy session per week to formulate exit strategies, relapse prevention techniques, overall health and learning how to create the ideal environment for their continued recovery. The advanced track also introduces the client to the alumni peer-support network, which meets weekly.

The staff at The Cabin Bangkok can truly accommodate both native Thai clients and English-speaking ex-pats. The include an American Master’s-level clinical psychologist, a Thai Master’s-level psychotherapist, who specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety and addiction, a Thai-born English-speaking MD psychiatrist and a CADC from the UK, who serves as the program director.

Extras

As part of their mental wellness program, the Cabin Bangkok draws from Thailand’s rich spiritual history by teaching clients Southeast Asian meditation techniques aiming to help with stress reduction, depression, anxiety and cultivating mental strength.

Clients in need of a more intensive recovery track may elect their residential inpatient treatment program. Working with psychologists, yoga instructors and incorporating other traditional methods from the East and West, clients live in luxurious retreat-like accommodations while beginning their recovery journey.

In Summary

For busy professionals in Bangkok, The Cabin’s outpatient program incorporates proven recovery techniques with their own unique treatment approach. The highly-trained, multicultural staff ensures both both English and Thai-speaking clients have access to a comprehensive treatment experience. Those seeking treatment combining east and west philosophies and cultivating a mind/body connection, can find the serenity at The Cabin.
