quakerstown pennsylvaniaThe Basics

Located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Bucks County Counseling offers outpatient treatment for substance abuse, mental health and anger management. Using evidence based therapies, services such as assessments, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and general outpatient are available. Additionally, BCC provides intervention services, family and couples counseling and specialized treatment for individuals with co-occurring disorders,.

Treatment and Staff

Following an initial evaluation, clients at BCC develop individualized treatment plans with staff counselors. For those needing detox or residential care, referrals are available.

BCC’s IOP is the highest level of support, with two to three hours of therapy three times a week for a minimum of six weeks. Treatment involves a mixture of individual and group therapy using evidence-based treatment practices such as CBT and DBT to work on triggers and to change negative thought patterns. Topics may include relapse prevention, coping skills, early recovery skills and anger management. Referrals to local 12-step meetings in the community are provided upon request. Support for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can be addressed during therapy as well.

Once IOP has been completed, clients can step down into a basic outpatient program which follows a similar structure to the IOP but with fewer therapy sessions. Clients enrolled in this track typically attend up to three hour-long sessions per week. These can include both individual and group therapy depending upon the client. The length of these programs also varies by each client’s needs.

The facility is run by Amy and Rich Brown. Rich is an LPC and a CADC with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology while Amy is a state-certified addiction counselor. There are also two other therapists on staff. Group sizes range from two to six at a time.

Extras

In addition to the above, Bucks County Counseling also offers treatment for anger management, mental health and general counseling services. Couples and family therapy are also available.

In Summary

Although the facility’s services are fairly basic, Bucks County Counseling still offers a range of outpatient substance abuse options rooted in evidence based therapies. Through a combination of individual and group therapy, clients can receive treatment for a wide range of afflictions. For those in the area in need of affordable and personal care, Bucks County Counseling has a solid IOP with the option to step down to basic outpatient services.
