Boynton Beach FloridaBright Futures Treatment Center Review

Bright Futures Treatment Center opened its doors in 2014 to provide multi-level substance abuse treatment to men in Boynton Beach, Florida, a beach-side community just south of Palm Beach. Bright Futures focuses on helping clients discover the reasons behind their addictive behavior and to give them the spiritual and therapeutic tools to create a new life in recovery.

The cornerstone of the Bright Futures treatment program is a short-term residential track. It then ensures continued progress by having clients step down to its Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and sober living homes.

Accommodations and Food

Clients live in one of five residences in a quiet suburban neighborhood in Boyton Beach. The men have roommates in the modern homes, which feature high-end kitchens with stainless steel appliances, rec rooms with cable TV, and bright, contemporary décor. Behavioral Health technicians are available 24/7 to help with medication and other client needs.

Meals are catered and staff members take residents on recreational trips in town. Social excursions include movie nights, sporting events and opportunities to play paint ball, go jet skiing and visit the nearby beaches—which are less than a mile away.

Treatment and Staff

Residential treatment usually lasts one to three weeks, though men are welcome to extend their stays if they’d like more support. Clients in need of detox may do so at nearby facilities affiliated with Bright Futures.

Days typically begin at 8:30 am with a goals group followed by group therapy for emotional processing, psychoeducation classes, individual therapy and experiential therapy experiences including yoga, art therapy and chiropractic therapy. In the evenings, residents attend peer support meetings, do recovery homework and relax and recharge.

Treatment is CBT-based and works extensively on trauma resolution and exploring the personal narrative. Clinicians also use the Recovery Dynamics work developed by The Kelly Foundation. Clients are also encouraged to work the 12 steps while in treatment, and Bright Futures transports them to meetings in the area. While clients must have a primary diagnosis of substance abuse for admission to Bright Futures, dual diagnosis support is readily available, including processing groups for anxiety and treatment for PTSD.

After residential treatment, clients often continue to attend Bright Futures treatment groups at the IOP level for several weeks while living at home or in Bright Futures’ sober living facilities. Bright Futures has three sober living facilities in the area, which are primarily occupied by alumni of its residential program.

Bright Futures’ treatment team includes Master’s-level therapists such as LMFTs and psychiatrists.

Extras

Families are encouraged to visit the facility for a weekend of treatment and support while their loved one is in residence. Loved ones can also participate in family therapy via Skype with the client and clinician throughout the stay. Alumni of Bright Futures often visit to give motivational talks and many are available to sponsor current residents through the 12 steps.

In Summary

Bright Futures Treatment Center distinguishes itself in the south Florida recovery community by offering several levels of all-male substance abuse treatment in a comfortable, intimate setting. The program supports clients through detox, residential, outpatient and aftercare, giving them an experience of long-term support and advocacy. By creating treatment plans that include family therapy, trauma treatment and peer support, Bright Futures helps clients change habitual patterns of behavior and create resilient support systems.
