Bridges to Change Club Hope Review

Club Hope is a program through Bridges of Change, a non-profit community based treatment facility. It offers a series of services including substance abuse treatment, co-occurring disorder programming, housing placement and special mentoring for men and women in Portland and surrounding areas. Club Hope is a drop-in clinic that provides a safe and caring atmosphere for those who are seeking an environment of support while exploring the early stages of recovery.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment services at Club Hope are not only geared towards individuals who are struggling with substance abuse, but also gambling addictions. The facility hosts a number of different support meetings every week, and have several recovery mentors on hand who are available to offer their assistance and guidance during the hours that the facility is open, which is from 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, and noon to 8 pm Saturdays.

There is a daily schedule that is posted on the website with open support meetings clients can attend. These meetings are a combination of 12-step and SMART Recovery meetings, some of which are gender-specific, while others are for family members and loved ones of addicts. There are AA, NA, Heroin Anonymous, Gambling Anonymous and dual diagnosis specific meetings at this facility, some of which are gender-specific and others for Spanish speaking clients only. For the most part these meetings are open to the public, with the exception of a few that are only for clients of Bridges to Change. To complement these 12-step meetings, there are also some Big Book study sessions offered a few times a month.

For clients who are attending meetings specifically for gambling addiction, Club Hope has partnered with Voices of Problem Gambling Recovery to offer Refuge Recovery, Celebrate Recovery and Gamtalk sessions in addition to mentoring services. These meetings and services are also completely confidential and offer the same amount of support and guidance as the substance abuse programs.

The staff members of Club Hope and Bridges to Change are LCSWs, case managers and LPCs.

Extras

Club Hope provides family members with Al-Anon meetings at the facility several times a week. In addition to these support meetings there is also yoga offered on site.

In Summary

Club Hope is a warm and inviting facility that offers a safe place for people to attend support meetings and receive guidance when they are feeling like their addiction is taking over, or as a family member who is worried about someone they love getting caught up with dangerous or harmful behaviors, and know that they are surrounded by folks who have been through similar experiences.
