Located in Perris, California a small city approximately 17 miles south of Riverside, The Bridge-Consortium at Perris Ranch offers men a 12-step approach to sober living. Its mission is to provide a family-style atmosphere that offers peer support and helps men build a solid foundation in recovery.
Accommodations and Amenities
This sober living home accommodates no more than eight men who are paired in tidy rooms with windows allowing ample sunlight, twin beds, nightstands and lamps. The house includes a fully equipped kitchen, formal dining room and a comfortable living room with a fireplace and a leather couch. Men purchase their own groceries and prepare their own meals. Smoking is permitted in designated areas outside of the house. Besides clients, there is a live-in house manager who supervises operations and provides guidance.
Rules and Regulations
At The Bridge-Consortium at Perris Ranch, potential clients must have a minimum of 30 days of sobriety. Requirements include attendance at three 12-step meetings a week, performing household chores and being present at daily house meetings. The house meetings are more like group sessions that focus on particular topics of importance to those who are newly clean and sober. Topics include stress management, life skills, communication skills, anger management and relapse prevention. Clients create daily goals, which they are encouraged to follow.
Additionally, clients participate in a weekly “guest huddle.” During this time, they share their progress and any obstacles that they encounter while they are working on their goals. Peer support is encouraged during the guest huddle.
While having a job is not mandatory, residents must have a feasible source of income including SSI, unemployment or familial support. Curfew is 9 pm during the week, and 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The Bridge-Consortium at Perris Ranch conducts random drug and alcohol screenings and maintains a strict zero tolerance policy regarding those found to be under the influence.
