Briarwood Detox Center Review
Based out of Austin, Texas, Briarwood Detox Center is a residential detox facility for adults struggling with addiction. It provides support for those dealing with a range of chemical dependencies including cocaine, heroin, opioids, methamphetamines and more. All programs are individualized and can be made to suit each participant’s needs.
Accommodations and Food
The Austin facility has 16 beds for residents in shared, semi-private rooms. Each bedroom holds two to three clients in twin-sized beds and comes with bedside tables, lamps, dressers, natural light and storage space. The rest of the facility is outfitted like a normal home and includes common lounge areas, cable TV and WiFi, outdoor areas and a fully-equipped kitchen. Throughout their stay, all residents are served three meals a day by on-staff chefs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff determine their needs. Once accepted, clients typically stay between three and 14 days before being discharged. The detox process include medical supervision as well as Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) through affiliated providers whenever necessary.
In addition to the stabilization services, however, all residents also participate in counseling throughout their stay as well. The program includes both group and individual therapy with evidence-based treatment practices such as CBT and DBT, though the specifics may vary by client. Groups cover a range of topics such as emotional processing, trigger identification, relapse prevention, family issues, life transitions and other applicable topics. While 12-step participation is not always required, it may be encouraged in some cases. Due to the short nature of the program, those in need of dual diagnosis support should seek additional care elsewhere after detox.
The staff at Briarwood Detox Center consists of LCDCs, LCSWs, nurses, supervising physicians and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Although the detox program is relatively short, part of the counseling is designed to help participants advance to further treatment after stabilizing, whether that means an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or residential treatment in the area. Those looking for placement in nearby sober living homes can also get help from the counselors as necessary.
In Summary
In all, Briarwood Detox Center provides and individualized inpatient detox option for clients in recovery from substance abuse and addiction. All treatment plans include evidence-based therapy, medical oversight and flexible discharge planning to suit each participant’s needs. Although the length of stay and the cost of treatment may vary on a case-by-case basis, Briarwood Detox Center remains a strong option for those in need of comfortable inpatient detox before further care.
