The Basics
Interventionist Bret Hiner is the the founder and Executive Director of Lighthouse Recovery Center in the Salt Lake City suburb of Midvale, Utah. Hiner is a LSAC and board certified intervention specialist. He has been working in the recovery field for over 17 years and helps facilitate treatment facility placement and aftercare services for his clients.
The Background
Hiner has been sober for over 20 years, and his experience in recovery ignited his interest in helping other heal from addiction as well. Bret opened Lighthouse Recovery Center in 2009, and in addition to being the founder he also acts as the residential program director. Since his start in the recovery field in 1994 he has been a part of hundreds of interventions with very successful results.
The Approach
Hiner offers a simple approach to clients and their families: provide the client with a safe and loving environment to accept help while maintaining their dignity. The individualized methods incorporate the 12-step philosophy, and steering clear of sugar coating what the process of treatment is going to be like has lead to the successful outcomes of his past clients.
Lighthouse offers both residential and outpatient care, so Hiner can provide the clients and their loved ones with detailed information about what they can expect while going through treatment. They provide comprehensive programs, utilizing evidence-based methods, like CBT, as well as more holistic options, like meditation. Lighthouse also offers a structured family program that meets weekly. The emphasis on these group sessions is to educate the family about the disease of addiction and relapse prevention. Hiner participates in the planning for the client from a residential stay to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to aftercare and sober coaching.
