Boyz in the Hood Sober Living Review
Boyz in the Hood Sober Living is a network three men’s residences and one women’s residence in North Hollywood, a suburb of Los Angeles. Boyz in the Hood’s mission is to provide “safe, sober, and affordable housing for recovering addicts and alcoholics so that they may thrive in a comfortable and relaxing environment.”
Boyz in the Hood was founded nearly 10 years ago by John Rytlenski and the facility works with clients of many treatment programs and nonprofits in the area, including the Musicians Foundation.
Accommodations and Amenities
Each home has two to four bedrooms and residents usually have one roommate. The homes feature free phone calls and internet service, as well as free laundry facilities and flat-screen TVs with cable in each room.
The homes are in walking distance to many shops and employment opportunities and the red line Metro Station.
Rules and Regulations
Boyz in the Hood has a strict zero-tolerance policy and residents are drug tested at random. Clients must also attend 12-step meetings; the frequency is decided upon a case-by-case basis. The first week of their stay, clients have a curfew. After, they are free to get overnight passes to visit friends and family as long as they tell their house manager when they’ll return. Each house has an on-site manager who can help clients with job search skills and finding additional treatment options. Several of Boyz in the Hood’s residents are enrolled in nearby outpatient programs.
