Body, Mind, Spirit Intensive Outpatient Program (BMS) located in San Clemente, California, offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for substance abuse, as well as recovery retreats and plenty of holistic add-ons. Treatment and Staff
Treatment begins with an in-depth assessment that lasts anywhere from one to three hours, after which an individualized treatment plan is created. The full-time IOP is the most intensive track, meeting three to six days a week, Monday through Saturday, for up to eight hours a day. The evening IOP runs three nights a week for three hours. Both of these tracks are offered in 30-, 60- or 90-day durations.
Once clients complete their goals in the IOP, they have the option of stepping-down to the continuing care level, which includes group or individual sessions as needed. All treatment focuses on CBT, DBT, psychoeducational sessions and 12-step philosophies. Holistic methods such as experiential therapy and spiritual development are also incorporated. All clients leave treatment with a life plan for continued recovery and personal development.
The staff is led by addiction experts Dr. William Martin, PH.D and Dr. Shelly Zavala, who is a Psy.D and MFT. There are also Master’s-level CADCs and RNs.
Extras
The IOP also offers innovative wellness programs aimed at addressing the whole person and improving quality of life. These treatments include nutritional education, yoga classes, massage therapy, anger management, financial counseling and art therapy. Community outings are offered to build a sense of camaraderie among the clients. These include trips to the beach, museums, art galleries and cultural activities.
Retreats are available for individuals and couples that allow them to spend an extended amount of time (several days to a week) in intensive therapy, where they can work on developing a plan for a balanced life and healthy relationships.
