Based out of Palm Springs, California, Blue Tiger Recovery is a well-rounded treatment facility with a range of programs for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Accommodations and Food
The organization’s residential facility is a seven-person house exclusively for men. The home has a total of five bedrooms, one of which is a private master’s suite with a larger bed and its own bathroom. The other rooms are both shared and private and come equipped with twin beds, dressers and closet space. In addition to the bedrooms, the house features an expansive living room with cable TV, WiFi, bathrooms and an outdoor pool. Transportation is provided as necessary. While the facility provides all the food, residents are expected to work together in the kitchen to prepare meals for the house as part of their treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. While detox is not available on-site, those in need can get referrals to nearby facilities. Programs can range from 28 to 90 days in length.
Programming includes individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT and EMDR. Groups discuss addiction as a disease, relapse prevention, coping skills and family of origin. Treatment also incorporates trauma-informed care including Brene Brown’s curriculum called The Daring Way as well as neurofeedback and Somatic Experiencing. Throughout their stay, clients also attend nightly 12-step meetings—these can be AA, NA or SAA (Sex Addicts Anonymous) depending on their needs. Dual diagnosis support is also available including medication management.
The staff at Blue Tiger Recovery consists of LMFTs, CSATs, RNs, psychologists, MFTs, LPCs and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
The organization offers several short-term treatment options including an 11-day sex addiction bootcamp and a three-day couples counseling intensive program; both use the facility described above. Treatment programs are available which cater specifically to the LGBTQ experience as well. Finally, Blue Tiger Recovery also provides sober living and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). The organization is currently working on opening a similar women’s residential house.
