Belle Mead New JerseyBlake Recovery Center Review

Founded in the 1980’s, the Blake Recovery Center became the substance abuse and addiction wing of the Carrier Clinic. Set alongside the hundred-year-old buildings, the Blake Recovery Center meets the need of treating chemically dependent clients in need of medically monitored detox on a short-term inpatient basis. Located in Belle Mead, New Jersey, the 100-acre farm provides a beautiful, serene environment in which to seek recovery.

Accommodations and Food

The large and spacious rooms accommodate two clients at a time. Genders are separated by room, but since the treatment is generally short-term, they are mixed within the facility. Comfortable twin beds, closets and semi-private bathrooms are offered.

Clients eat meals in the cafeteria, in which a gourmet chef prepares individual meals. Dietary requests are considered, and food is always nutritious.

Treatment and Staff

Clients enter Blake voluntarily, after an evaluation that determines their suitability for the program. As a short-term detox unit, Blake treats clients for typically seven to 10 days. Longer care is allowed, however, and clients can be referred to residential care, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or aftercare services on-site.

The detox starts immediately upon admission and medication management is provided and medication-assisted treatment is also available if necessary. For those coming off opiates, Suboxone is the recommended method of treatment. Clients with co-occurring disorders are supported through medication and psychological treatment.

For the length of their treatment, clients attend group therapy daily, and are also introduced to 12-step programs through on-site meetings. Groups focus on a variety of topics, including life skills, relapse prevention, stress, anger management and underlying causes through evidence based practices. Individual therapy utilizes CBT.

Upon completion of the residential program, clients are often recommended for the IOP, which meets Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. This program helps transition clients into independent living, as well as maintaining a strong, supportive recovery community. Clients are expected to stay sober while attending the IOP groups, and random drug screenings are performed. The client continues to meet with their social worker that assists with employment, legal, financial and housing services.

Clients are supervised 24/7 by a team of doctors, nurses and a psychiatrist.

Extras

A gym, chapel and library are also available for clients.

Blake Recovery’s main facility, The Carrier Clinic, provides short and long-term psychiatric care for adults and adolescents, as well as acute care and comprehensive dual diagnosis support.

In Summary

Blake Recovery Center offers intensive short-term residential care for chemically dependent clients, set in a beautiful, serene location. For a relatively low cost, clients are provided with high quality accommodations and food, as well as a variety of treatment options. The strong IOP system means that clients are supported through their transition into sober lives.
