Bethesda Blue Ash Treatment Program Review

Bethesda Blue Ash Treatment Program is a private hospital-based alcohol and drug abuse treatment program founded in 1987, offering outpatient detox, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and aftercare services to adults. Under the umbrella of the TriHealth organization, Bethesda Blue Ash and its sister facility, Bethesda Oak Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program, both out of Cincinnati, Ohio, use similar treatment protocols.

Treatment and Staff

Bethesda Blue Ash offers ambulatory detox for alcohol and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opiates, using Suboxone.

Once clients are stable, they have the option of continuing into IOP. Bethesda Blue Ash also has working relationships with several residential treatment programs, so if 24-hour supervision is required, clients are referred out.

IOP requires clients to attend group therapy three days a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, for three hours a day. Most clients remain in IOP for six to eight weeks, seeing their individual therapists once a week, with the option of adding in family therapy. Group size is limited to 10 participants.

Clients are also required to attend two outside support groups a week. 12-step meetings are held down the street from the hospital. Once clients are done with IOP, they step-down to regular outpatient services, for an additional six to eight weeks. Clients meet once a week for 90 minutes, scheduling individual therapy on an as-needed basis, and continue to attend 12-step meetings.

The staff at Bethesda Blue Ash includes certified addiction specialists, doctors and nurses and LCDCs.

Extras

Bethesda Blue Ash offers an aftercare program, for an additional fee, for clients with co-occurring disorders. There is also the possibility of scheduling family therapy as part of a family program, if applicable.

Bethesda Blue Ash offers special considerations for clients who need ASL and other hearing impaired services. There are also services for clients who speak American Indian and Alaska Native languages.

In Summary

Bethesda Blue Ash Treatment Program focuses primarily on treating the physical addiction through detox. They see their treatment protocol as preparation for residential care, but detox and outpatient could be enough for someone with a stable home environment. In addition, Bethesda Blue Ash works with clients to set up discounts of up to 60 percent off the price of treatment—not a bad deal for hospital level care.
