Beit Hillel Sobriety Review
Located in the mid-city area of Los Angeles, in between downtown and Santa Monica, Beit Hillel Sobriety provides upscale sober living accommodations for adult males in the early stages of recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders. Beit Hillel has three houses situated in peaceful neighborhoods within close proximity to grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants and public transportation. While Beit Hillel does not have detox resources, the houses require participation in weekly 12-step meetings and random drug testing. The program’s structure, routine and comfort make for a perfect home during the transition from rehab into regular life.
Accommodations and Amenities
Beit Hillel provides a safe and positive sober house experience with locations near shopping centers, pharmacies, restaurants and movie theaters, not to mention a close proximity to the beach in Santa Monica. Residents enjoy a lot of amenities as the houses come with spacious floor plans, bedrooms with full sized beds and nice furnishings, air conditioning, flat screen TVs with cable in every room, street parking and a security system. In addition, each house has a communal computer and WiFi, an on-site washer and dryer, and a backyard with a barbeque grill and a pool.
Beit Hillel understands that many clients need more than sober living to achieve sustainable long-term sobriety. To this end, Beit Hillel can make referrals for detox units, outpatient programs as well as therapists and even attorneys. In addition, residents are expected to seek employment, work, volunteer or attend school.
Rules and Regulations
Beit Hillel provides a structured sober living program with the main focus of clients taking personal responsibility for their sobriety. Safety and community are both extremely important. To this end, inappropriate behavior including physical or verbal threats, alcohol or drug possession, theft and long-term absence are prohibited. Clients must pay rent within one week of the due date or face dismissal. In addition, there is an enforced 11 pm curfew on weekdays and midnight on the weekends.
Residents have a set routine including set meal times and chores. Residents pay for toiletries and kitchen items. There are weekly house meetings to discuss the status of the community, and clients are required to participate in at least three in-house 12-step meetings a week. In addition, residents must have a 12-step sponsor and undergo random on-site drug and alcohol testing.
Extras
Residents are allowed visitors between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm though management permission is required.
In Summary
Beit Hillel Sobriety provides luxury sober living accommodations for men transitioning from residential treatment programs back into regular life. The facilities provide a structured environment where residents are held accountable for their own recovery. Clients are expected to be involved with 12-step groups as well as be working or going to school. For clients seeking a well-rounded sober living experience that emphasizes both structure and fun, Beit Hillel is an excellent choice.
