Behavioral Medical Center Mukwonago Review
Located in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the grounds of Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Behavioral Medical Center Mukwonago offers substance abuse treatment. The facility provides short term inpatient care as well as Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and outpatient services for adult clients with co-occurring disorders and addiction issues.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment at the facility, the counseling staff of Behavioral Medical Center determines whether clients require medical detox with Suboxone before treatment. If so, clients can expect a three to five day stay managed 24 hours a day by medical staff. They will then have the option to step down to the IOP, which takes place three evenings a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 pm. The IOP consists mainly of group therapy sessions, though individual sessions are also available if clients prefer. The program is designed to run about six weeks in total, with the option to continue treatment at a less intensive pace after that initial period.
The group sessions are made up of both men and women and are kept fairly small, with no more than 10 to a group in order to give each client personal attention. Group sessions focus on psychoeducation, coping skills and anger management using CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other evidence based methods. For those with a dual diagnosis, the facility offers psychiatric medication management services in addition to the IOP or outpatient programs. Treatment may involve clients attending an additional individual therapy session each month in order to track their progress with the medication. Even though treatment is not based on the 12-steps, the counselors do recommend that clients attend outside AA meetings while participating in the IOP or outpatient treatment.
The behavioral health staff is comprised of LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors and nurses.
Extras
An aftercare program that runs once a week in a group therapy session is available for those who would like continued support after completing outpatient. Couples and family counseling services are also provided at the client’s request on an individualized basis.
