Beginner’s Mind Substance Abuse Counseling of Nashville, Tennessee is an outpatient treatment facility operated by Jeff Browning, who began his journey of working with substance abuse and dual diagnosis clients in 2002 in an adolescent residential program. As an LADC, Browning provides comprehensive treatment to clients who are struggling with chemical dependency, including heroin, opioids and alcohol, through holistic approaches and a meditative practice.
Treatment
Over the past 15 years or so Browning has honed his skills working with clients in early recovery. He provides a calm and supportive atmosphere and specializes in what may be referred to as “resistant” clients, as in those who have had multiple relapses, are brand new to recovery and are having trouble accepting it, and adolescents. At his office he offers individual therapy and DUI assessments for those who had been arrested for driving under the influence and need to undergo testing by a professional to determine whether or not they need a longer term treatment program.
Browning is also highly trained in meditation practices, and is a certified meditation instructor from the Mindful Schools. Therapy methods include Strengths Based approaches, Gestalt, Jungian, Mindfulness Based Therapy, and an Existential practice. He offers two hour groups at recovery homes and treatment facilities that are experiential based. Additionally, he is well versed in trauma-informed care and has extensive experience with psychodrama and other emotionally focused modalities. And though his treatment methods aren’t based on the 12-step philosophy, he doesn’t discourage his clients from finding a support through AA or NA, and offers bit of spiritual guidance along the way.
Browning also provides his clients with a great deal of flexibility in terms of seeking treatment. He offers his services seven days a week, and is able to accommodate some nights and weekend hours as well.
