Situated in midtown Manhattan, Beacon Program is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients struggling with a variety of eating disorders including compulsive overeating, binge eating and food addiction. Founded in 2012, Beacon offers completely individualized programming and an integrative treatment approach that combines an array of therapeutic methods including evidence-based practices via both individual and group therapy, as well as nutritional coaching. Beacon primarily offers outpatient counseling and coaching. The 12-step recovery model and medication management are not components of the programming.
Treatment and Staff
The goal of Beacon Program is to provide long-term weight management solutions to clients grappling with dysfunctional eating, so that they can have a healthy and sustainable relationship with food. Clients beginning treatment at the Beacon first undergo a comprehensive assessment that helps the team design the most effective care plan tailored to the specific needs of the individual. The facility is uniquely flexible and always willing to meet clients halfway. For example, clients can choose to participate in treatment remotely, in an intensive abbreviated time-frame or even totally on their own.
While individuals can choose to participate in the treatment alone, clients typically join the classroom-style eight-week core intensive program. With only nine individuals at a time, Beacon offers an atmosphere that is both communal and private. Clients never want for personal attention and benefit from the support of their peers. Beacon offers an integrated approach to treatment that combines an array of therapeutic models including evidence-based therapies like DBT and CBT, holistic methods such as meditation and mindfulness as well as group and individual coaching. In addition, the facility provides nutritional counseling and life skills education. Clients learn distress tolerance, relapse prevention and emotion regulation.
The Beacon Team is comprised of LSWs, mental health counselors, consulting nutritionists and a clinical director.
Beacon recognizes the family as an integral component of the client’s success. To this end, the facility offers a family program to provide relatives with the skills needed to be supportive.
Beacon offers around-the-clock phone support for clients in need of help outside of their formalized treatment schedule.
