Beacon Health Review
Beacon Health, formerly known as Neighboring, is a CARF-accredited outpatient treatment facility located in Mentor, Ohio. It opened its doors in 1969 and since then has offered individualized treatment plans for men and women with co-occurring disorders. Beacon Health provides comprehensive care to the local community, and in 2008 received both the SAMHSA Award and the Lynn Goff Award.
Treatment and Staff
The dual diagnosis program at Beacon Health consists of individual and group therapy, case management and employment placement services. After initial intake and assessment, clients receive a treatment plan which reflects their individual needs. Clients can choose from several groups including coping skills, relapse prevention and gender-specific therapy.
Group sizes at Beacon Health do not exceed about 10 clients at a time and are each overseen by one counselor. Because treatment plans are individualized, the program has no fixed duration and clients can come and go depending on where they are in treatment. Typically, those at Beacon Health attend one or two hour-long groups and one individual therapy session every week.
This facility uses evidence-based therapy methods including CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Motivational Interviewing (MI), the Matrix Model, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR for those who have experienced trauma. Medication management services are also available when necessary.
Staff members at Beacon are all specialists in addiction as well as co-occurring conditions and consist of psychiatrists, psychologists, CADCs and caseworkers.
Extras
Beacon Health offers a family program that consists of addiction education classes and therapy with the client and family members when requested.
In Summary
Beacon Health offers comprehensive dual diagnosis support, many group therapy options and a wide range of scientific treatment methods. The facility has a long history in Ohio and provides flexibility and affordable prices to those in the community who need them. In all, Beacon Health is certainly worth considering for those seeking thorough outpatient care.
