Beachside Portland in Oregon offers upscale detox and residential services along with Intensive Outpatient (IOP) step-down programming. The inpatient track provides luxury accommodations and customized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based models and holistic therapeutic approaches, with the intent to uncover the underlying reason for the clients addiction.
Accommodations and Food
Clients live in luxury homes in quiet, residential neighborhoods throughout Portland. These houses offer a variety of amenities, like large bedrooms that are shared with one other client (some of which have en suite bathrooms), modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances that are fully stocked, and comfortable living rooms with cable TV, Wifi and fireplaces. The houses also have ample outdoor space with sitting areas.
Meals are prepared freshly on site by a chef who uses organic and local ingredients. The menus are pre-set, though allergies and specific dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Clients are also given snacks of their choosing.
Treatment and Staff
At the initial assessment clients meet with an addiction counselor who goes over their history in terms of addiction and overall health, and from there are admitted with an individualIzed treatment plan. The detox process is a three to seven day program that is monitored 24 hours a day by medical staff, and during this time clients are welcome to attend group therapy and activities if they feel up to it. Once they’re stabilized they start in the residential program portion of treatment, which lasts up to 30 days, give or take a couple of days. Following the inpatient portion of treatment clients have the option to move onto the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
There are several group sessions on a daily basis and a handful of individual therapy sessions as well. The groups cover relapse prevention, anger management and trauma. The work that clients do while in treatment digs into past experiences that may have led to their initial using, and therapy aims to start the healing process. Another important element to the daily structure of the residential program is exercise, which is factored into every client’s personalized treatment plan.
Treatment uses evidence-based modalities, like CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) mindfulness and trauma-informed care. Though the program at Beachside isn’t based on the 12 steps, the staff doesn’t discourage clients from seeking out an additional form of support, especially once they move into the outpatient tracks.
Staff includes Master’s-level therapists who are LCSW, CADC and LPC.
Extras
Clients participate in a variety of therapeutic outings and activities like yoga, hiking, art and music therapy, and meditation.
