Located an hour south of Los Angeles in the affluent Orange County, Beachside Behavioral Health is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of men and women struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression, trauma and anxiety. Treatment and Staff
Beachside Behavioral Health offers a flexible, comprehensive IOP ideal for clients that either cannot commit to residential treatment or for those transitioning back into regular life from an inpatient program. Individuals are able to receive consistent treatment while remaining at home and continuing to work. While some clients step down from the residential program, many individuals transition directly from detox into the IOP.
The IOP typically lasts between 45 and 60 days with 35 hours of therapeutic programming a week. Outpatient treatment offers six hours of care a week as well as a one individual session. Before beginning treatment, clients undergo an extensive evaluation that helps determine the most effective care strategy, personalized to the client’s unique needs, goals and situation.
The 12-step recovery model is the cornerstone of programming at Beachside Behavioral Health. In addition, the facility employs a range of supplemental therapeutic methods including a faith-based program, evidence-based therapies, recreation, nutrition, holistic methods and psychoeducation. Clients engage in several 12-step meetings a week as well as a weekly one-on-one sessions and daily group sessions rooted in CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR for clients with co-occurring trauma. The facility provides a psychoeducation curriculum that targets relapse prevention and an understanding of the disease of addiction. In addition, clients participate in yoga, Tai chi, art therapy and sound healing meditation and five weekly trips to the gym. IOP clients also go on recreational trips with activities like golf, go-karting, surfing and paddle boarding.
The Beachside Behavioral Health team is comprised of MDs, Master’s-level therapists, social workers, nurses and a chef. Meals are covered for IOP clients, and are planned by a nutritionist. Medication management is available for clients with co-occurring disorders.
