Treatment and Staff
Bay Psychological Associates PC provides treatment for adults and adolescents, using traditional talk therapy in both group and individual settings. Following an initial evaluation, clients develop treatment plans with counselors. Referrals to detox and residential treatment can be made upon request.
Though clients can do a combination of group or individual therapy, they must attend individual therapy in order to participate in groups. Individual sessions are each an hour long and occur under the guidance of counselors who specialize in alcohol and drug dependency. During these sessions, any additional or co-occurring mental health issues can be addressed as well. Usually individual therapy occurs once a week. If more support is need in the beginning, additional weekly sessions can be added.
Group sessions use evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT. Topics covered include coping skills, communication, and relapse prevention. A substance abuse group is held once a week on Wednesdays, from 10 to 11:30 am. Clients stay in this group until it is no longer needed. Groups are usually between three and eight people. The staff includes LADCs and social workers.
Extras
Groups specializing in co-parenting, trauma, anger management, parenting, stress management and women’s skill building are available. The facility also offers Seeking Safety groups for those suffering from trauma.
