Banyan Health Systems: Casa Nueva Vida Review
Casa Nueva Vida is the only entirely Spanish-speaking residential substance abuse treatment program in South Florida. Offered by the Banyan Health Systems network, a behavioral health service provider based in Miami, Florida, Casa Nueva Vida offers treatment for co-occurring disorders as well as detox services to those clients who need it.
Accommodations and Food
The accommodations for Casa Nueva Vida are in a large facility with separate buildings for housing and treatment sessions. The housing is a dormitory-like setting with clients of the same gender to a room; all rooms are double occupancy. Bathrooms are communal and separated by gender. There are living rooms with televisions and recreation areas both inside and outside. Meals are served three times a day cafeteria-style. Some dietary restrictions can be accommodated upon request.
Treatment and Staff
The Casa Nueva Vida treatment program is highly individualized based on an initial psychiatric evaluation. If necessary, clients enter a medically monitored detox program. The individualized treatment plan determines the focus of group and individual therapy. Clients attend group therapy twice a day and individual therapy once a day. Casa Nueva Vida also implements educational programs on addiction and chemical dependency. There is a co-occurring disorders group for those clients who need it and case management services are provided throughout the course of treatment. The 12 steps are not technically included in the program, but clients can be referred to local AA/NA meetings upon request.
The staff consists of LSWs, psychologists, CADCs, LMHCs and clinicians.
Extras
Casa Nueva Vida family therapy can be scheduled up to three times a week and the program also offers a resource called TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families).
Casa Nueva Vida is not the only substance abuse treatment offered by Banyan Health Systems. It also offers other residential treatment programs, outpatient options and other miscellaneous behavioral health services. Banyan offers an adult residential program for English-speaking clients, a juvenile residential program, a residential re-entry program, outpatient services for mental health clients and substance abuse clients. This is all in addition to primary care and treatment services specifically for adolescents and elderly clientele.

Banyan Health Systems’ Casa Nueva Vida is an excellent program for those seeking help that caters to Spanish-speaking clients who need detox and/or evidence-based treatment that also includes dual diagnosis support.
