For more than 30 years, Banner Behavioral Health Hospital has offered an assortment of health and wellness services. Its behavioral health department in Scottsdale, Arizona provides substance abuse treatment to adolescents and adults. Services include detox and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which includes a relapse prevention component. Treatment is individualized and dual diagnosis support is provided.
Treatment and Staff
Banner’s inpatient detox clients stay are taken care of in the hospital setting. Nurses and behavioral health technicians are on the floor to monitor patients 24/7 during their five to seven day stay. Clients may share their hospital room with one other person and all meals are included in the cost. During detox clients see a medical doctor every day along with 12-step meetings and group therapy.
The IOP is run by Master’s-level, state licensed therapists on a total abstinence foundation. The service is offered out of the main Banner Behavioral Scottsdale location and another treatment center in Chandler, Arizona. Clients take part in mandatory 12-step meetings, must get a sponsor and undergo random urinalysis. Included in the cost of the program is a weekly family group. DBT-based groups meet for three hours twice a week. Including AA/NA meetings clients must attend the program three times a week for a minimum of five to six hours, choosing between day and evening group sessions. No individual therapy is provided. A staff of five to six therapists in each center run the groups. Psychiatric nurses, clinical case managers and behavioral health techs are also on staff.
The adolescent version of the IOP offers six hours a week of treatment that includes specialized 12-step meetings and peer support groups and multi-family group. In the latter, parents, legal guardians and siblings of clients may join as long as they are over the age of 12 and not using substances.
Extras
Clients of the IOP are provided the option to transition into monthly aftercare, which includes monthly alumni meetings. A ROPES course is also available.
