Axis Health System Review
Founded in 1960, Axis Health System is a state-wide non-profit with locations in Durango, Cortez and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. While the specific programs available vary by location, each generally includes flexible outpatient therapy and psychiatric support.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning therapy, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs. Those in need of detox can do so on-site at the Crossroads at Grandview facility in Durango; short-term psychiatric stabilization is also available; it can last for up to four days. Once stable, participants continue on to flexible outpatient programs with individual and group therapy including evidence-based practices like CBT and DBT. Groups cover a range of topics including 12-step recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, co-occurring disorders, addiction education and family issues. Each program also features medical and psychiatric oversight. Medication management and flexible case management services are also provided.
The staff at Axis Health System consists of LCSWs, CACs, LPCs, psychiatrists, psychologists, MDs, RNs, case managers and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the programs above, the organization also provides standalone options including crisis assessments, wellness exams, vocational support and some basic primary healthcare services. Adolescents in Durango can also take advantage of school-based behavioral healthcare programs which can happen on-site.
