Axiom Family Counseling Review
Axiom Family Counseling offers psychiatric services and counseling in three Pittsburgh-area locations in southwestern Pennsylvania. From its Uniontown and Greensburg facilities, Axiom has been providing outpatient substance abuse treatment programs for nearly ten years.
Axiom specializes in trauma-specific treatment and uses evidence based treatment methods to develop trusting relationships between staff and clients. Treatment methods include CBT and DBT.
Treatment and Staff
The Outpatient program at Axiom is 12 weeks long and each client is required to attend two individual therapy sessions each week and group therapy once a week. Axiom’s therapists include MFTs, Master’s-level Social Workers (MSWs) and LPCs. The client-to-staff ratio in most groups is typically one-to-10. Counselors and therapists use CBT and DBT among other modalities to help clients develop new coping skills. Axiom’s staff are equipped to treat co-occurring disorders and while clients aren’t required to attend 12-step meetings while they’re in the program, they’re strongly encouraged to.
After twelve weeks, clients can step-down by choosing to attend a single one-on-one session each week or only a weekly group. Clients work with their therapist to plan a discharge date, but those who miss three consecutive appointments are discharged from the program.
Axiom also offers a Suboxone program for individuals suffering from opioid addiction and its accompanying withdrawal symptoms. Enrolled clients also see a therapist twice a week and attend the same therapy and education groups as the other outpatient clients. Once a week. a nurse provides a prescription to be filled at a local pharmacy and self-administered.
