Awakenings Hill Country Review
Awakenings Hill Country is a 12-step based substance abuse treatment facility that opened in January, 2015, in Fredericksburg, Texas. The Awakenings parent company has been around for more than five years. Awakenings offers 30-, 60-, and 90-day residential programs for adult women as well as detox.
Accommodations and Food
The sprawling Awakenings Hill Country grounds include a private pool, gazebo, reflection pond. The large house is located on an equally expansive area of land which, surrounded by flora. The house has its own dining room, living room, separate sitting areas and shared rooms that offer a total of 20 beds. Rooms are occupied by two to three women. The Awakenings Hill Country detox facility can be found on-site, slightly apart from the housing unit. There is also an exercise and fitness center available. All meals are included in cost of stay and provided for the clients. Special dietary needs like diabetic, vegetarian and gluten free can be accommodated upon request.
Treatment and Staff
The standard 30-, 60- and 90-day options of stay may also be customized for specific client or insurance needs into different increments, such as for 45 days. Clients are reportedly kept very busy, under an intensive schedule. Classes address topics like life management, high-risk behavior, co-dependency and relapse prevention are held throughout the day. While an exit program is in place to be individualized for each client when the time comes. Awakenings Hill Country clients spend a lot of time with their individual counselors who are available around the clock.
Clients also get to attend of-site AA/NA meetings, do Big Book study, or even enroll in a five-day intensive course designed by addiction specialist Ann Martin entitled Recovery Enrichment. Awakenings Hill Country also provides options for a structured family program, a faith-based program, dual-diagnosis support and ongoing recovery support. Awakenings Hill Country staff consists of two nurses, an MD and two licensed counselors; most of the staff is in recovery. There is always 24-hour medical staff on duty.
Extras
Clients may also take part in yoga, equine therapy and creative expression such as art therapy.
In Summary
Awakenings Hill Country has quite a few enticing characteristics. The program accepts most insurance, including Medicaid but even in cases of self pay, its fairly reasonable all-inclusive prices have the added benefit of getting lower the longer a client is in need of services. While medication is to be paid extra and purchased through a third party, Awakenings has scholarship funds available for those clients who may need that kind of help.
