Aviva Family and Children’s Services Outpatient Review
With locations throughout Los Angeles, California, Aviva Family and Children’s Services is a nonprofit behavioral health organization that offers a number of affordable services to children and families struggling with mental health issues and co-occurring disorders. Aviva was founded in 1915 and offers all-encompassing support for a range of issues. Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, all clients work with on staff case managers to help determine their needs. While the organization does not provide on-site detox services, those in need can get referrals to nearby facilities. Because Aviva Family and Children’s Services are so individualized, the details of each care plan can vary significantly. In any case, both individual and group therapy are available including evidence-based treatment practices, like CBT and DBT, and trauma-informed care. One major focus is on Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Because the organization is in essence a affiliated group of licensed counselors, specific modalities may vary. In addition to clinical therapy, other services include anger management groups, family therapy, life skills groups and financial education.
Programs are also available specifically for children who have been in and out of juvenile hall and the penal system. Foster family and adoption services are also provided when necessary.
Wraparound services are also offered, wherein Aviva’s counselors travel to families to do in-home therapy, parenting classes and skills workshops. This option can also be used as an aftercare plan as well.
