The Avenues Recovery New Hampshire location offers 90-day residential treatment for adults struggling with addiction and/or a dual diagnosis. The program is 12-step based and includes a number of holistic and evidence-based practices. Participants also have access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). Accommodations and Food
Avenues partners with Manchester based Sober Living New Hampshire to provide housing for its clients. These upscale homes are located in the downtown area of Concord, walking distance to several AA meetings, restaurants, grocery stores and shops. They are also about an hour’s drive away from some of New England’s most popular hiking and outdoor adventure spots.
There are three facilities dedicated to Avenues clients; two for men and one for women. The houses are private and offer all the comforts of home.
There are fully stocked kitchens where clients enjoy their homemade, family-style meals. Clients share chore duties throughout the facilities. The program provides all the essentials, like cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and linens.
Other common areas includes a game room, living room with TV and cozy seating areas. Because the housing is off campus from the treatment facility, the living quarters really feel like a home rather than a residential program.
Treatment and Staff
During the initial assessment clients go over their medical and psychological histories with the intake counselor. Each individual has a customized treatment plan that includes at least three group sessions per day, bi-weekly individual sessions, and therapeutic activities. In addition to regular addiction treatment, clients also receive case management assistance. This includes legal help, family issues, and assistance returning to the workforce.
There are 12-step meetings on a nightly basis, which are AA, NA and CA. Clients receive transportation to some of the meetings if necessary. During group sessions, some of which are gender-specific, clients focus on topics like financial responsibility, nutrition, relapse prevention, family values, and psychoeducation.
CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma based treatment protocols are part of the daily curriculum of programming. Dual diagnosis clients receiving additional psychiatric care that includes medication management. Maintenance medication for withdrawal issues is also available via Vivitrol. It’s worth noting, there is also always access to medical care.
The New Hampshire staff of Avenues includes LMHC, LADC, LICSW, and full time residential techs.
Extras
There are several weekly recreational sober outings for clients to enjoy. These excursions include hiking, shopping, exercise, and recreational activities. Avenues provides a a gym membership to all clients. They can also expect guided meditation sessions and yoga classes.
Finally, this New England branch of Avenues also has an outpatient program and sober living option.
