Based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Atlantic Shores Hospital is a broad behavioral health hospital that provides residential treatment to adults and adolescents struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Clients can move through a full continuum of care from detox to aftercare.
Accommodations and Food
All told, the facility has a total of 72 beds available for residents, namely 42 for adults and 30 for adolescents. Clients stay in semi-private units with two to three people in each, all kept separate by gender. Rooms are relatively basic with twin beds, end tables, dressers and closet space.
The facility itself is located on two acres of land near the beach with a tropical ambiance and landscaping. In addition to the bedrooms, the facility also boasts common areas with cable TV, group therapy rooms, exercise facilities, an expansive dining room area and an outdoor gazebo. Throughout their stay, residents are provided three meals a day, typically home-cooked and with an emphasis on Southern comfort food.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their treatment plans. As mentioned, those in need of detox services can do so on-site before continuing on to therapy. Though each program differs somewhat depending on residents’ needs, all the above include individual, group and family therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT, though specific modalities may vary by practitioner. Programs in general are 12-step oriented and include AA/NA recovery concepts and regular on-site meetings. Groups cover a wide range of topics including life skills, anger management, emotional processing, addiction education and relapse prevention. Extensive dual diagnosis support is also available, including medication management.
MDs, RNs, psychologists, LMHCs, LPCs, LMFTs, psychiatrists, LPNs and additional Master’s-level clinicians all make up the extensive staff at Atlantic Shores Hospital.

Both court-ordered and self-referred clients can attend the programs at Atlantic Shores Hospital. In addition to programs for substance abuse and dual diagnosis issues, the facility also offers standalone mental health programs in many of the same intensities. Similarly, those looking to step down the intensity of their programs after primary care can continue attending outpatient group and individual therapy on a schedule that suits them.
