Atlantic Behavioral Health Review
Atlantic Behavioral Health is one of the largest non-profit health care systems in the state of New Jersey, with more than 600 affiliated community-based health care providers. The program includes an outpatient chemical dependency program in Morristown that was started in 1998. The chemical dependency program is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) with treatment tailored to meet each client’s level of need. Additionally, special programs for those requiring dual diagnosis support, DUI/DWI offenders and criminal justice clients are available.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment begins with an assessment. Clients who are determined to be a fit for Atlantic Behavioral Health’s program are given an individualized treatment plan from staff who determine the best route of treatment. If a client needs more intensive treatment or detox, referrals are given to a facility that can better provide the care needed.
The IOP requires clients to attend three-hour sessions three to five days a week, while those who need less intensive care may come in as little as once a week. Treatment combines individual and group therapy and also provides drug and alcohol education, medication management and random drug screenings.
The staff at Atlantic Behavioral Health includes psychiatrists, CSWs and LPCs all trained to help patients improve daily functioning and work towards recovery.
Extras
A relapse prevention group is offered through the chemical dependency program every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 pm. This course includes assistance with addiction-related legal issues, psychiatric services, individual and group sessions and educational services.
Treatment also includes alternative therapies such as drumming circles, art therapy, yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices.

The program strives to provide a safe and structured haven to those currently struggling with addiction and also gives clients access to a range of holistic and alternative therapies.
