Treatment and Staff

Atlanta DBT provides treatment for a wide range of conditions including mental illnesses, spectrum disorders, chronic pain, self-harm, eating disorders and alcohol and substance use disorders. Before beginning treatment at Atlanta DBT, clients first undergoes a comprehensive assessment that determines the best possible personalized care strategy tailored to the unique needs of the individual. Atlanta DBT offers comprehensive and flexible PHP and IOP programs ideal for clients that either cannot commit to residential treatment or for those transitioning out of an inpatient program back into regular life. Clients are able to receive structured therapy without taking time off work or school. While the length of care varies from client to client, therapy is available between two and five days a week from two to six hours a day.

Atlanta DBT offers several phases of DBT treatment. Depending on the needs of the client, the facility offers four stages of therapy. Clients engage in skills groups, individual therapy and phone coaching to provide in-the-moment advice on coping skills for real-life situations. In addition, clients with more severe issues work with a consultation team to help them stay motivated. Individual sessions are usually held weekly for one hour. Skills training is an integral aspect of the curriculum at Atlanta DBT. Clients participate in two and a half hour weekly group sessions for approximately 24 weeks, with some individuals repeating the program multiple times. The facility also offers wellness courses, family DBT skills groups, a mentalization training as well as specialized versions of DBT like prolonged exposure and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT).

The Atlanta DBT team is comprised of Master’s-level counselors and therapists.
