Assessment and Treatment Associates Review
Founded in 2001 in Washington State, Assessment and Treatment Associates provides a plethora of outpatient substance abuse treatment services from five locations. The offices are located throughout the state —in Bellevue, Tacoma, Mountlake Terrace, Silverdale and Pasco. The rehab also provides treatment for clients suffering from co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission, clients undergo a 90 minute assessment that includes drug and alcohol screening tests plus a comprehensive evaluation. On a weekly basis, the 12 week Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) track is comprised of group therapy that meets three times for three hour sessions, while the eight week outpatient track meets just once a week for a three hour group. The evidence-based groups use a CBT approach and discuss topics that include coping skills, anger management and recognizing triggers. Attendance at recovery support groups, such as AA/NA are encouraged, but not mandated.
Individual therapy is offered for clients who need dual diagnosis support for co-occurring disorders. Topics addressed during therapy may include anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, depression, interpersonal conflicts and life transitions. The length of dual diagnosis treatment depends on the client. Assessment and Treatment Associates also offers a 12 week specialized relapse prevention program for clients who have relapsed after attending primary care at a drug rehab. The program includes education as well as group therapy and these clients are required to attend three off-site recovery support groups per week.
Assessment and Treatment Associates has approximately 21 employees on staff at its various locations, including MFTs, LCSWs and CADCs.
Extras
Assessment and Treatment Associates offers family and couples therapy, as well as a treatment program for criminal justice clients. There is an eight-hour alcohol and drug information school for DUI clients.
They also have a partnership with Eastside Integrated Primary Care whose naturopathic doctor provides holistic therapies as well as integrated wellness recovery plans for clients in recovery.
In Summary
For those in Washington state looking for comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, as well as dual diagnosis support, Assessment and Treatment Associates is a great choice. The only possible drawback is that the duration of treatment is relatively short. Although it is only required in the relapse prevention track, these programs probably work best in conjunction with attending a regular protocol of outside recovery support group meetings.
