Aspen Counseling Center Review
Aspen Counseling Center was founded in 1994 in the Denver suburb of Littleton, Colorado by psychologist Dr. Gary Coats. It provides outpatient counseling to adults in the southwest Denver metropolitan area.
Treatment and Staff
The intake process begins with an initial phone call followed by a meeting with a counselor to help determine the client’s level of need and chart out an individualized treatment plan. Aspen Counseling does not accept Medicaid and does not currently offer residential or detox services.
The program consists of individual and group therapy, as well as family therapy upon request. Although the exact length and intensity of programs vary, most clients attend two to three one-hour groups a week. Counselors use a variety of treatment modalities, including guided readings on addiction, education, sharing, relapse prevention and CBT. Although Aspen is not 12-step oriented, clients are encouraged to attend outside AA and NA meetings during treatment. Clients with potential co-occurring disorders are referred to outside mental health providers.
Staff consist of PhD-level psychologists and a therapy dog.

Aspen Counseling also has offers couples counseling as well as stress and anger management groups.
