Treatment and Staff
Clients beginning treatment with Ascend start with a comprehensive assessment that helps the team determine the most effective treatment plan personalized to the individual client’s needs and goals. Dr. Ashbaugh and Ascend offer outpatient and intensive treatment programming for individuals, couples and partners. Intensive therapy is ideal for clients in need of significant therapy in a short amount of time. Rather than outpatient one-hour per week treatment, Ascend’s intensive treatment is comprised of between 12 and 16 hours of therapy scheduled in four-hour sessions over the course of several days or weeks. Sessions are flexible and scheduled to fit the client’s needs.
Ascend employs a multi-theoretical approach to care that combines psychoeducation, individual and group therapy, couples therapy, partners therapy, the 12-step recovery model, intensives, mindfulness, coaching and relapse prevention. While treatment is individualized to the client’s needs, every plan is rooted in a behavioral strategy that assists in changing long-held habits in conjunction with a task centered approach where clients work towards measurable and achievable goals. Ascend also treats clients and partners with betrayal trauma, where an individual’s trust or well-being has been violated. In addition, the facility offers online partner support groups for partners of sex and pornography addicts.
Ascend is the private practice of Dr. Honor Ashbaugh. Dr. Ashbaugh is a board-certified physician of internal medicine, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist as well as a life coach. She is also a co-founder of a sex addiction treatment program for men called the Begin Again Institute.
Ascend offers a six-day intensive retreat for female partners struggling with betrayal trauma located in the Rocky Mountains. Treatment includes individual and group therapy as well as holistic programs like art therapy and psychodrama, yoga and mindfulness.
