ASAP Cincinnati Review

ASAP is a Cincinnati, Ohio based drug treatment center thats serves adolescents and teens who are struggling with the early stages of addiction. There are several different treatment programs offered, all of which are based on the 12-step philosophy. Outpatient treatment includes an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) along with individual therapy, supportive group sessions and a continuing care program. All of these tracks strongly encourage the participation of family members and provides them with addiction counseling and education options.

Treatment and Staff

Incoming clients have to schedule an intake over the phone and usually within three days they are called in for an assessment. In some cases clients are accepted into treatment due to the referrals of the court system, schools, medical professionals, or other mental health agencies. The assessment takes around two hours and involves both the adolescent and a parent or guardian. During this process clients are asked about their past usage history, family environment, educational experiences and social life.

After the assessment clients and their families are given a recommendation for a treatment program. In some instances clients are referred to an outside facility that offers more intensive treatment or residential programming. Those who are accepted to ASAP are placed into either the CHOICES program, which is geared for teens who are not necessarily dealing with an addiction at the moment, but are in danger of going down that path in the future, or the TRIP (Total Recovery in Progress) program, which is the IOP track.

TRIP runs three days a week for three hours at a time, and is offered on a flexible schedule on some weekdays and weekends. It also includes hour long group sessions twice a week for parents or guardians. The IOP typically takes 24 sessions for clients to graduate and then move onto the continuing care program. CHOICES can be considered a step-down to TRIP in that is involves one group meeting once a week for four hours. This track usually lasts about four weeks and culminates in a certificate acknowledging the client’s completion.

There is a large clinical and support staff at ASAP. They include LICDCs, CDACs and LPC.

Extras

The aftercare program, for continuing care plan, is a weekly group therapy session that focuses on relapse prevention, teaches coping skills and helps develop social skills.
