Arbor Place Inc. Review
Offering a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient programs in the small city of Menomonie in western Wisconsin, Arbor Place Inc. offers affordable 12-step based recovery in a residential setting.
Accommodations and Food
Operating out of a lovely but modest home in Menomonie, Arbor Place keeps 18 residents at a time, though the average is generally closer to 12. Both men and women stay under the same roof and tend to show up at Arbor Place in near equal numbers. Rooms are separated by gender with two to a room, each with a private bathroom, twin beds and basic furnishings. There is a cook on staff who prepares three meals a day, all served in the house kitchen. The home also comes with a dining room and living room area where there’s a TV that residents can use during free time.
Treatment and Staff
Average stays at Arbor Place are short, averaging around 21 to 28 days. As a result, the staff (composed primarily of licensed counselors) keeps the days structured and focused on recovery work.
Mornings begin promptly at 8 am with breakfast followed by a day heavy on group sessions until 3 pm. These sessions include topics such as relapse prevention, anger management, self-esteem building, daily living skills, trigger identification and early recovery techniques. After these sessions, clients have a bit of downtime before an early dinner at around 5 pm. After that comes on-site 12-step meetings, though residents can meet privately with counselors during this time as well.
Arbor Place does not offer a medical detox on-site. The staff at Arbor Place are non-medical, though there is a psychiatrist on staff who handles the distribution of approved medications.
Extras
During the warmer months, there is a volleyball and badminton court on the front lawn as well as a basketball hoop. Many residents use their free time to go on walks around the property.
As of this publishing, Arbor Place has also been working on a new location set to open in Winter 2015. As planned, the new facility will boast an exercise room, meditation room, art room and a larger community room for further client activities, as of yet to be determined.
Arbor Place makes an effort to serve their local community in ways beyond their treatment programs, including their Victim Impact Panel four times a year for those with DUI charges so that they can learn about the consequences of drinking and driving. These panels features testimonials from people whose lives have been affected by drunk driving.
In Summary
Arbor Place Inc. boasts two important features: an affordable cost and low client rolls. With room for only 18 at a time and an affordable price for inpatient care, Arbor Place is worth considering as a place for simple, no frills recovery for those who can weather the cold.
