The Basics
Based in Chicago, Illinois, interventionist Ann Foster is the owner and president of Millennium Counseling Center. Millennium provides a plethora of substance abuse and addiction treatment services including individual and group therapy and intervention services. Besides helping those with chemical dependency, Millennium Counseling Center provides services for clients suffering from eating disorders, co-occurring disorders, trauma, grief and loss. Foster is a Master’s-level LPC, a CADC and a nationally certified multiple addiction therapist. Besides Foster, there are nine other licensed professionals on staff.
The Background
With over 35 years of experience, Foster is passionate about her work, and believes that there are no hopeless cases. In addition to her counseling credentials, she holds a Master’s degree in theology from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. She brings empathetic and spiritual elements to her counseling style. Foster founded Millennium Counseling Center in 1995.
The Approach
At Millennium Counseling Center, clients receive individualized interventions, which are appropriate for their needs. The approach utilizes elements of the Arise intervention style. There is the belief that a client does not need to hit rock bottom before the family intervenes.
The process take place over the course of several days and includes an assessment, preparation and the actual intervention, which is conducted in a loving way and designed to avoid condemnation. The facility has extensive relationships with local psychiatrists and medical health providers. Residential treatment and detox referrals are provided.
Post-Intervention and Summary
Besides offering extensive therapy, clients who complete treatment are also provided an aftercare group, which helps them properly transition from inpatient care to day-to-day life. Those who do not compete treatment or relapse are treated on a case-by-case basis. At Millennium Counseling Center, staff is highly aware that clients might have co-occurring disorders, and is sensitive to their needs. This is an excellent option for clients who have underlying issues, and who need extra care.
