Ann Arbor Consultation Services Review
Ann Arbor Consultation Services is a network of therapists and psychiatrists who offer a range of outpatient mental health services. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, AACS has three locations throughout Washtenaw County—two in Ann Arbor and the third in Brighton. Located in the southeast corner of the “mitten,” Ann Arbor is a university town and the sixth most populous city in the state of Michigan.
Ann Arbor Consultation Services is a CARF accredited facility that provides private and individualized treatment experiences. Working exclusively through individual therapy, clients are placed with a services provider that can best assist them with their substance abuse and mental health concerns.
Treatment and Staff
Ann Arbor Consultation Services offers a wide range of therapeutic methods to best assist their clients during their recovery process. Typically clients see their therapists once per week and length of treatment is totally dependent upon the agreement between counselor and client. Individual therapy sessions last one hour to an hour and a half. There is no group therapy offered through AACS. If a client requires detox they are referred to a trusted local resource. Support for clients with co-occurring disorders is readily available through the network of approved therapists and psychiatrists.
Therapy methods that are available at AACS include substance abuse treatment in tandem with DBT, CBT and Rational Emotive Therapy (RET). Some therapists also specialize in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Play Therapy, Short-Term Dynamic Therapy, Habit Reversal and Habit Control Therapy. If a client is suffering from PTSD and other related trauma-centric disorders they are paired with a therapists who specializes in EMDR therapy. A total of 35 therapists are distributed between the three facilities and five psychiatrists. The administrative staff oversee screenings and handle all intake procedures including bio-psycho-social assessments.
The clinical staff at AACS include LPCs, LCSWs, MFTs and Master’s-level mental health professionals with additional certifications to work with substance abuse clients. Clients and their recovery needs are considered unique and individualized treatment plans are developed around their special diagnoses. Therapists utilize a wealth a therapeutic techniques and may recommend 12-step meetings for additional support outside of individual counseling.
Extras
For clients who are having difficulties with their family relationships, AACS offers marriage and couples counseling for an additional fee.
