Angel Villa Review
Since 2008, Encino, California-based Angel Villa has provided luxury sober living and high-end amenities along with 24/7 staff availability. The Villa is the newest in a network of sober living houses opened by Executive Director Georgia Frabotta. In 1997, she founded the first Angel House in North Hollywood. Her mission at the Villa continues to be assisting as many men and women as possible in recovery. To that end, Frabotta now runs four houses, the most luxurious of which is Angel Villa.
Accommodation and Amenities
The Villa has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms as well as an executive suite, which is situated on the property but not attached to the main house. Each private room has a queen-size bed with down comforter and plush pillows, a desk, TV, fireplace and ample closet space. The bathrooms have marble floors, large sinks, Jacuzzi tubs and separate showers with detachable shower heads in addition to a sauna. There is one semi-private room in the Villa that accommodates two residents. Though co-ed, quarters for men and women are located in separate wings of the large house.
Everything is spacious in the Villa, including oversize couches in the main living space, the heated pool with attached hot tub, sprawling patios and outdoor fire pits. The state-of-the-art kitchen is stocked with healthy snacks that residents can indulge in in-between nutritious meals prepared by the private chef. Pets are welcome on the property and since the Villa is tucked away in the secluded hillsides of Encino dogs can run around safely off-leash.
The luxury factor continues in holistic offerings to nurture the mind and spirit—massage therapy, yoga, meditation, Pilates and even Krav Maga. A Bally’s gym membership is also included in the program. If residents prefer something less active, there’s Wi-Fi in addition to a high-def TV in each room.
Rules and Regulations
In order to move in, clients must be sober for at least two weeks. The goal of this house is to help residents reintegrate into real life but with sobriety, therefore there are very few rules here except for the basic one: no drug or alcohol use. Anyone caught using is immediately expelled. Beyond that, there are no curfews or strict regimens. Each resident is encouraged to devise a recovery plan that suits his or her needs and staff is available to assist clients with structuring such a program. Residents may have their own cars and cell phones. Family members can visit whenever they want.
A typical day at the Villa may include morning meditation followed by a wholesome breakfast, plenty of free time, a massage, Pilates or yoga and a 12-step meeting. In the evening there is dinner, followed by reading or socializing.
Extras
AA meetings are provided on-site and transportation is also arranged for those clients who prefer off-site meetings. Sober companions may be arranged as well as online addiction counseling if clients prefer a more private treatment experience. Referrals for individual therapy are offered if needed, as well as group therapy.
In Summary
Angel Villa offers comfort to the point of luxury, seclusion without isolation and a holistic recovery experience for as long as the resident needs. Ms. Frabotta has imbued in this house a spirit of internal healing. Each resident receives personal attention and maximum support for recovery.
