Based out of Anchorage, Alaska, Anchorage Treatment Solutions is a CARF-accredited treatment organization that provides outpatient-based care for clients struggling with opiate addiction. All programs are individualized and include a combination of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and therapy to help men and women safely begin the road to recovery.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all incoming clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their medical history and needs. Though on-site medical detox is not available, the entire program is essentially an ambulatory detox, which includes medication to help with withdrawal symptoms whenever necessary. Though each program may differ, they all include both individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT. Groups cover a range of topics including relapse prevention, trigger identification, emotional processing and life skills.
In conjunction with a therapy program, clients can also work out a dosing schedule for a variety of MAT-based interventions. Medications may include methadone, Suboxone and Subutex. Program lengths are flexible and both self-referred and court-ordered clients are welcome to attend. Dual diagnosis support is not available though 12-step recovery principles are often used in group sessions.
The staff members at Anchorage Treatment Solutions consists of nurses, case managers, medical technicians and additional Master’s-level counselors.
As mentioned, all of the above programs are flexible and can be made to suit any schedule. Those who finish a primary care regimen can also work with case managers to develop step-down aftercare plans as necessary; the programs include gradual strategies to wean off of any medications they may have been prescribed. Those in need of referrals to nearby recovery meetings or more intensive programs can get them as well.
In all, Anchorage Treatment Solutions provides a basic but flexible care plan for clients in the area struggling with more serious opiate addiction. Programs include evidence-based therapy along with Medication-Assisted Treatment and individualized care planning. Groups cover 12-step recovery as well as basic life skills. While those in need of more intensive care or dual diagnosis support may need to look elsewhere, Anchorage Treatment Solutions remains a strong resource for those in the area.
