Anchor Point Helping Professionals Review
Anchor Point Counseling Center and Helping Professionals Counseling recently merged to form Anchor Point Helping Professionals, an outpatient treatment center in Battleground, Washington—a small city twenty-five miles north of Portland, Oregon.
APHP was established nearly ten years ago and offers both an outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance abuse treatment along with several other addiction and mental health services including DUI services, anger management counseling and individual counseling. APHP’s holistic program is committed to individuals with mental health disorders and helps them by “creating forward change anchored in compassion and healing wisdom.”
The duration of the IOP is 12 weeks and clients meet three times a week for one-and-a-half hours of group therapy. Clients also meet for individual therapy once a week. After 60 to 90 days in the IOP, each client’s progress is evaluated and it is decided whether it would be best to continue in the IOP or to step down to APHP’s basic outpatient program, which meets for group therapy once a week for 12 to 26 weeks.
Groups are led by therapists (LCSWs and MFTs) and addiction counselors (CADCs, CDPs and CDP Trainees) and don’t exceed twelve participants. There is a women’s-only group on Wednesday nights.
While therapy at APHP discusses spiritual aspects of recovery, it does not focus on the 12 steps. Instead, clinicians emphasize cultivating mindfulness and balance and use CBT, DBT and Solution-Focused techniques.
Extras
APHP offers a one-year Domestic Violence Treatment Program and a 16 to 26 week Anger Management treatment program. In addition, counselors meet with clients individually to explore spiritual principles as foundations of recovery.

Anchor Point Helping Professionals offers outpatient and IOP programs that emphasize mindfulness and accountability in creating lasting change. All clinicians are well-credentialed in both addiction and mental health services, and the recent merger should provide more expertise and treatment options to the Battle Ground community.
