Accommodations and Food
The luxurious residential homes are fully furnished with stylish, comfortable amenities. Up to six clients reside in each center. Rooms and bathrooms are shared with one other client of the same gender and all linens are provided. All spaces are large and newly renovated, meaning clients are able to recover in a peaceful environment. Clients can also utilize amenities such as an outdoor pool, pool table, smoking area and large TVs throughout the homes. A gourmet Chef prepares all meals, which are tasty and nutritionally balanced.
Treatment and Staff
Clients receive a comprehensive evaluation, during which the need for detox and dual diagnosis support is determined. Clients are medically detoxed on-site for seven to 14 days. Registered nurses and a doctor supervise administration of all medications and monitor clients 24/7. Clients with co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and ADHD receive psychiatric support in addition to chemical dependency treatment. Medication management is offered, as well as holistic treatment methods like breathing techniques, mindfulness and focused individual therapy.
The 45-day inpatient program aims to reduce stress for clients during their stay. The luxurious accommodations, ability to smoke and permitted cell-phone use contributes to the relaxing environment. The program has a large 12-step component; meaning clients are required to attend meetings, work with a sponsor and complete assignments. Group therapy is attended daily, with individual therapy once a week. These focus on relapse prevention, anger management and life skills. Clients also attend education sessions that discuss the effects and consequences of substance abuse and addiction. Additionally, clients are taught meditation techniques, are coached in nutrition and engage in regular physical exercise. Recreational activities include trips to the beach, whale watching and group games.
Both the IOP and outpatient program consist of continuing the treatment modalities established in residential care. Outpatient typically consists of one group therapy session per week and IOP includes up to four sessions. Most clients are eligible for accommodation at one of the sober living homes, where they can continue to participate in treatment in a supportive, structured, home-like environment.
Their assigned case manager oversees treatment goals and progress, liaises with other staff, and helps create an aftercare plan. This may include referrals to or assistance with education resources, employment and community services. Staff ensures an adequate support system is in place for the client to enter once they leave treatment. Additionally, staff can purchase tickets and make arrangements to transport clients to their treatment centers from anywhere in the country.
Loved ones are encouraged to participate in individualized programs that include family therapy, written assignments and participation in Al-Anon or Nar-Anon. The family program varies depending on the client’s relationship with their family.
