Treatment includes both evidence-based therapy methods like CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), EMDR and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) as well as alternative methods like sand play, art and music therapy, recreational therapy and the Gestalt method. Therapists also promote mindfulness techniques and the use of meditation to help clients. For those with a dual diagnosis, specialized groups and medication management are also available.
Group sessions also heavily focus on relapse prevention and coping skills. Additionally, APC offers a gender-specific group for women geared towards those who are self-medicating as a result of pre-existing trauma. The group meets once a week in the evenings. The therapists and counselors at APC are highly trained and experienced in co-occurring and substance abuse, including LCSWs, LPCs, SACs, nurses and psychologists.

Aside from their client-specific programming, APC also provides individualized couples and family counseling services. In addition to parenting assistance and education, families are offered crisis stabilization, mentoring, life skills, tutoring, housing assistance and home management help.
