Alpine Recovery Lodge provides residential substance abuse treatment in Alpine, Utah, on the slopes of the Wasatch Range. Alpine Recovery has been in operation since 2012 and offers LDS-oriented treatment to those who request it. The program’s treatment plans range from 30 to 90 days and include evidence-based therapy, peer support, nature therapy and mindfulness techniques.
Accommodations and Food
Alpine treats up to 16 residents at a time. Clients reside in an upscale lodge on a beautiful campus that features hiking and biking trails. A gourmet chef prepares all meals and customizes meal plans according to clients’ dietary restrictions and nutritional needs. Personal electronics such as laptops and cell phones are not permitted.
Treatment and Staff
Clients in need of detox can usually do so under medical supervision at the lodge. However, severe cases may be referred to a local hospital. Clients commit to a 30-day treatment plan, initially. Most people then extend their treatment to 60 days, and some stay for a maximum of 90 days.
Clients attend group therapy three times each day and have individual therapy at least once a week. A physician visits the lodge each week to attend to clients’ physical health and clients with co-occurring disorders also work with a consulting psychiatrist for treatment for their mental health diagnosis. The treatment team also includes SUDC and SAC addiction counselors, MFTs, a life coach and yoga instructor.
Residents begin the day with a trip to a nearby gym and then they begin treatment hours. Therapy uses CBT, DBT, REBT and mindfulness techniques. Clients also have experiential therapy with nature activities and yoga for recovery. As clients progress in their treatment plan, they begin working with a case manager and life coach on educational and professional goal-setting. Clients also have staff mentors who help them create customized recovery goals.
LDS instruction is offered upon request and clients are transported to local peer support meetings, such as AA/NA and sober recreational activities in the evenings.
Families are encouraged to take an active role in recovery. Family therapy is offered and Alpine Lodge hosts weekly family groups for support and recovery education. Alpine Lodge also helps clients navigate the court system and maintain legal appointments while in treatment. For aftercare, the treatment team works with each client to identify outpatient programs and therapists in their area.
Alpine Recovery Lodge’s residential treatment plans are customized to help each client develop coping skills, set goals, improve their physical health and develop their spirituality. By helping families engage in treatment and devoting ample to time to aftercare planning, Alpine Recovery Lodge ensures that each client has an improved support system and well-defined next steps upon their graduation from residential treatment.
