Alo House Recovery Center Review
Alo House Recovery Centers rests on one of America’s most beautiful beaches in Malibu, California. It offers the Malibu Model rehabilitation experience—plush living quarters, top notch chefs, extensive amenities, a highly-qualified staff and myriad holistic treatment options.
Accommodations and Food
Residential treatment in Malibu tends to have a vacation-like aura. Featuring homes with floor-to-ceiling windows, this 30-person program accommodates clients in one of three residences. The rooms are spacious and each comes equipped with a flat-screen TVs. There are currently no private bedrooms available so clients should expect to share a room with at least one other resident.
Each house has a full, state of the art kitchen with a professional chef at the helm. Clients eat three gourmet meals a day, and they all features a variety of healthy, well-balanced and organic options. Coffee and snacks are available periodically throughout the day and special dietary requests are always honored.
Treatment and Staff
If necessary, the 30-to-90-day inpatient stay at Alo House begins with an on-site, medically monitored detox. A client undergoing detox resides in the comfort of a six-bedroom home and is attended by an around-the-clock doctor and nursing staff. Detox costs run at about $2,500 per day and it normally lasts about five to seven days. Once the client is stabilized, his or her individualized treatment plan is devised.
After an initial evaluation, residents are assigned a CADC-credentialed “care coach,” with whom they meet two times a week. This client-counselor relationship insures the client’s progress and struggles are closely monitored throughout treatment. Additionally, residents meet with a Master’s-level therapist at least once a week for individual therapy. Family counseling is available upon request.
Clients can expect several hours of group therapy each day. Topics range from relapse prevention, processing, trauma, codependency and grief. EMDR, neurofeedback, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and somatic experiencing are utilized both at a group and individual level. Twelve-step meeting attendance and/or principles are only encouraged if clients find AA/NA helpful. They’re by no means a requirement for successful completion of treatment.
A medical doctor, psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, therapists and recreational specialists round out the staff at Alo House.
Extras
There is no shortage of amenities here. The property has an open, airy yoga-meditation studio hybrid intended as a space for self-reflection. It’s not far from the heated swimming pool also on the premises. There are daily excursions to an off-site gym too. Hiking, surfing, kayaking, martial arts and paddle boarding are some of the other extra-curricular activities at hand. Spa treatments including massages and facials are scheduled on an as-needed basis, but not included in the cost of treatment.
Residents receiving treatment at Alo House might also find themselves experiencing a Native American sweat lodge, Zumba classes, gardening and/or service work.
In Summary
Alo House Recovery Centers offers modern therapies in a setting that boasts breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Thorough holistic treatment makes this facility more than just a luxurious, relaxing experience on the beach.
